2.      To fill in an application form using one’s own information.
3.      To write an application letter.
Learning procedures:
Step 1 Lead-in
    Students fill in the application form with their own information.
Step 2 Presentation
1.      Listen to the letter and find the answers to the questions.
(1)Who is the chairperson of the club?___________________________________________________
(2)How did Amy get interested in the club?_______________________________________________
(3)What are Amy’s favourite subjects?_______________________________________________________
(4)What are her hobbies and interests?______________________________________________
(5)Why does she want to become a birdwatcher?____________________________________________
2.Read the passage quickly.
Step 3 Activities
1.Sum up the main idea of each paragraph.
2.Discuss in groups to write an application letter using Amy’s letter as an example.
Think about:
 (1)Why do you write the letter?
(2)Something about yourself.
(school/grade/favorite subjects/interests and hobbies/clubs and activities to protect wildlife)
(3)Why would you like to join the club?
3.       Show some good letters in front of the whole class.
4.  Exchange, read and correct their letters.
5.  Ask some able students to read their letters and let other students talk about them.
