Step1. Lead-in
   This is Kitty. Her hair is long. She loves dancing.
This is Amy. She has short hair. She is good at swimming.   
This is LiHua. He is a new member of Huanghe Football Club. He looks strong and plays football very well.
u   Look at these sentences. Pay attention to the verbs. We use the verb “to be” in some sentences while we use the verb “to do” in others.
Step2. Presentation
---plays basketball very well. Many students like him. They often watch his games on TV. In my free time, I like watching TV too. But my ---likes reading. He/She often reads storybooks.------
u  We use the simple present tense when we talk about:
Things that we often do
Hobbies or abilities
Things that are always true
u  When the subject is he/she/it, we need to add an “s” to the verb.
You must know how to add an “s” to the verb. Let’s read the table on page 23 together.
How many ways are there to add an “s”? What are they?
Step3. Practice

Does Amy go swimming every week? Yes, she does.
Do you go swimming every week? No, I don’t. I don’t go swimming every week.
Does Simon often play football with his friends? Yes, he does.
Do you often play football with your friends? No, I don’t. I don’t ------
Does Daniel sometimes watch ball games on TV? Yes, he does.
You must know how to make negative sentences and ask answer questions using the verb to do in the simple present tense. Let’s read the table together.
