Step 1 Lead-in
1.T: Do you still remember Millie, Sandy, Simon and Daniel? Who likes sports?
(Simon) What about Amy? What sport is Amy good at? (Help the Ss answer: She is good at swimming. )
2.Show the first picture on P19 and say: Look at Sandy and Millie. What sport are they good at? They are good at playing volleyball. They can play volleyball very well.
3.Show the second picture and say: Look at Kitty. She likes tennis very much.
4.Show a football and say: Look at the ball in my hand. What’s it?(Ss: It’s a football.)
( Write the underlined words on the Bb and read them .)
5.Ask: Can you play volleyball? Do you like volleyball? Are you good at playing tennis? Do you enjoy playing tennis? (Encourage the Ss to give their own answers.)
Step 2 Practice
1.Say: I think sports are very interesting. As students, do you like sports? Please look at the pictures in Part A . Do you know what sports the students like?
2.Guide the Ss look at the pictures and complete the sentences.
3.Make conversations with the Ss like this:
S1, do you like playing volleyball/ football/tennis?
S2, are you good at playing volleyball/ football/tennis?
S3, do you love/enjoy swimming/playing volleyball/football/tennis?
S4, what sports do you like/love/enjoy? What sports are you good at?
4.The Ss practice in pairs.
Step 3 Presentation
1.Say: Amy and Simon like sports very much. Now, they are talking about sports. Listen to the tape and tell me when Amy goes swimming.
2.The Ss read after the tape. Then do role-play.
Step4 Practice
The Ss work in pairs or groups of four and talk about their favourite sport.
Step5 Presentation (comic strip)
1.Say: Sports are good for us. But sometimes we are busy and have no time. I think walking is also good. I like walking in the park after supper. I walk many times a week.
2.Ask a student: Do you like walking? Do you often walk to school? …(Oh, really?)
3.Look at the comic strip on P18 and say: Look, Hobo has a football in his hand. I think he likes football very much. But what about Eddie? What’s his favourite sport? Now, let’s listen to Eddie and Hobo’s dialogue and answer: What sport does Eddie like?
4.After listening to the tape of the first two pictures, ask another question: Does Eddie really like walking?
Step 6 Practice
1.The Ss listen and read after the tape in chorus.
2.Work in pairs and read the dialogue between Eddie and Hobo ,they can add their own ideas.
