1. (出示毛主席站在天安门城楼上的图片，问毛主席站在哪儿？他在干什么？毛主席在天安门城楼宣 告中华人民共和国成立。让学生欣赏雄伟的天安门城楼。)
T:  Who is the man that is giving a speech?
Ss: He is chairman Mao.He became the first chairman of new China. Look at the Tian’anmen. How grand it is!
T: And look at its roof, what color is it? S1.
S3: It is yellow.
T:  That’s correct! Because yellow was a symbol of imperial power in ancient China.
(板书，并要求学生掌握correct；了解imperial。)
2. (出示雕刻着龙纹的石栏杆图片。)
T: look,It’s a dragon.It’s carve d on the stone.
Ss:It’s said that they’re powerful animals which have long tails.
(板书，并要求学生理解carve；掌握tail。)
Tian’anmen is in front of the Forbidden City. Today, let’s learn somethi ng about the Forbidden City.
